Youssouf Fofana: "We will need this state of mind this season"
“A mixed feeling”. This perfectly sums up the state of mind of the AS Monaco players after the draw against Nantes (3-3), after being behind for a large part of the match, while dominating play. It was a performance that Youssouf Fofana tried to summarize in the mixed zone. 🎙
Hello Youssouf. What is the feeling that dominates after the match?
It is necessarily mixed, between the disappointment of not doing better by having generally controlled the match except at the start of the halves, and the positive side of having shown character to get back into the game. But we will need this state of mind during the season.
How do you explain these challenging beginnings of the halves?
In my opinion, the first goal is an avoidable fact of play. The third was a collective error, since the construction of the move started from quite a distance. But apart from that they got nothing, besides I think they only shot three times on goal. They were just very effective. We will therefore have to settle a few details, but I think we are ready for a good season.
Did this Nantes team surprise you?
They worked hard and showed a lot this evening, which they put in place well. They hurt us on two or three counterattacks. It was a good match in hindsight, there are still positives to retain. We come back to 3-3 and we took a point.
In any case, it was a Monaco side still very focused on the attack…
Tonight we were in line with our first two games by playing attacking football that allowed us to score three goals, which brings our total to 10 goals in three rounds. We must continue on this momentum, while adjusting the small defensive details.
Takumi Minamino:
I really feel much better physically than last season. I’ve already scored three goals since the start of the season, but today we wanted the win, so I can’t be completely satisfied.
On aurait aimé vous offrir les trois points ce soir, merci à tous de votre présence ❤️🤍#PartoutToujours
