Wissam Ben Yedder, Ligue 1's January Player of the Month!

Already voted Monegasque MVP of the month for January by the Club's fans on the AS Monaco App, the captain of the Rouge et Blanc has been named UNFP Trophy for player of the month for January.

Voted Monegasque MVP of the month for January by the Club’s fans on the AS Monaco App, the captain of the Rouge et Blanc has now had the honor of receiving the UNFP Award as the Ligue 1 player of the month for January. Scorer of six goals in five games with AS Monaco last month, Wissam Ben Yedder was named the best player in Ligue 1, as selected by the UNFP. Having been selected MVP by the Rouge et Blanc fans more than two weeks ago, the Monegasque number 10, current top scorer in the league (14 goals), has thus been rewarded by the general public.

It's true that I feel good, that I'm in good form and I want to make it last. It's always rewarding to be top scorer but I'm not focused on that. I want to work more for the collective, in order to help my teammates.

Decisive in the Coupe de France and the league

In competition with Nantes’ Ludovic Blas and Amine Gouiri from OGC Nice, captain’ Wiss thus won his first trophy of the season and succeeded Téji Savanier, who had won in December. Named last season among the five best players in the top flight, the French international (16 caps, 2 goals) has proved that he is in very good form at the start of 2022. He scored three times in the Coupe de France (once against Quevilly-Rouen and then against Lens twice) as well as in Ligue 1 (a double against Clermont and a goal in Montpellier), the captain of AS Monaco now has scored 62 goals with the Diagonale on his back.

These goals make him one of the top ten scorers in the history of the Club in the league, and close to the Top 10 in all competitions. Wissam Ben Yedder therefore fully deserves this title of best player in Ligue 1 in January, having also been named best Monegasque for the last three months by the supporters. Bravo Wissam!
