Wissam Ben Yedder is your MVP against Toulouse and in L’Équipe's Team of the Round
Like the character shown by the team after TFC opened the early score, he helped turn the match around in twenty minutes! A starter alongside Folarin Balogun at kick-off in the match in Toulouse (a 1-2 win), for the last match of the season’s first half, Wissam Ben Yedder was ready to be decisive. Against his former club, the Monegasque captain made the difference in two ways.
Two smart moves
First on the lookout on a poor Toulouse clearance, he was full of opportunism to follow up with a chest control to fire the ball into the net (1-1, 27′)! But he wasnot satisfied, as he then took advantage of the Monegasques’ strong end to the first period and a penalty obtained by his attacking partner, to double the lead, showing great composure (1-2, 44′). It was a welcome turnaround, just before the break.
Un enchainement de classe pour @WissBenYedder ⚽️✅

A valuable energy
But beyond his presence in the opposing area – 2 big chances, 5 touches in the box, 6 passes in the final third, 2 crosses, 1 key pass before a shot -, the AS Monaco captain worked hard for the collective. With seven duels, four recoveries, and also an interception, a clearance and constant pressing, the Monegasque number 10 spared no effort, even when the team found itself outnumbered.
His 250th professional goal!
Finally replaced at the very end of the match by Myron Boadu, who is back in action, captain Wiss’ was even able to receive an ovation from the Stadium as a former Toulouse player. Now credited with eight goals in Ligue 1 after this double, this makes him the second-top scorer in the top flight behind Kylian Mbappé (18), Wissam Ben Yedder has also reached a new milestone as he indeed scored his 249th and 250th goals in his professional career for club (247) + country (3), notes Opta.

MVP + and a place in the L’Équipe team of the round
Furthermore, a scorer in three of his last four matches against his first club in Ligue 1 (4 goals in total), he was therefore logically elected MVP of the match by the fans on the AS Monaco App, with… 91% of the votes! Credited with a rating of 8 in the sports daily, he also appeared in their Team of the round, for the second time this season.
It was a great reward after a strong performance and three points for the team. Daghe Wissam ! 👏
