Wissam Ben Yedder is your IQONIQ Match MVP against Montpellier
He’s back. The Monaco captain, Wissam Ben Yedder, found the net on Friday against Montpellier at the Stade de la Mosson (3-2). Unable to open the scoring from Kevin Volland’s pass, hitting the crossbar, the Red and Whites’ number 9 had more success on a magnificent headed finish on a cross from Caio Henrique (1-0, 35′) before scoring a penalty in the second half (61′). His double allowed AS Monaco to win on the road against Michel Der Zakarian’s side (3-2).

Welcome to the Yedderland
The connection with his attacking partner, Kevin Volland, is such that the two men have now been involved in 29 of the 39 goals scored by AS Monaco this season. A decisive duo, they lived up to that on the penalty obtained following a one-two in the area, which would bring the third goal against Montpellier. They are the third most prolific pair in Ligue 1 in terms of goals with 19 goals, behind the Parisians Mbappé and Kean (21) and the Lyon pair of Memphis and Toko Ekambi (20). With three wins in a row, they are a big part of the club maintaining their positive run, one that we would like to see continue against Marseille this Saturday (9 PM, behind closed doors).

A seventh MVP
Niko Kovac was not wrong at his press conference, confirming that his forward would get back to scoring again two days before the game. This double also allowed Wissam Ben Yedder to reach 90 goals in Ligue 1, not far from the symbolic numberof 100. With 76% of the votes, Wissam Ben Yedder is therefore elected MVP by ICONIQ for the seventh time this season, the most popular player this season.
The French international came back into his own against Montpellier during a stunning match, and inevitably, his smile is back. Bravo Wissam!
