Wilfried Singo: "I want to write a great story at AS Monaco"
He dropped his bags in the Principality on Thursday. Joining from Torino on a five-year contract, Wilfried Singo has wasted no time and has already completed his first training sessions with his new teammates. Two days before a visit from Strasbourg (7 p.m.), a match where he could make his debut, the Ivorian international (seven caps) was presented to the media, alongside Denis Zakaria 🎙
The role of Nicolas Nkoulou in his arrival
It’s true that I know him well and he’s been a friend of mine since I arrived at Torino in 2019. I spoke to him at length before my arrival, he told me only positive things about the AS Monaco. I hope everything will go well now.
His first impressions of Monaco
I have been very well received by the senior players in the squad and I see this as a squad that gets on well; the attitudes are good. I also know my brother Denis very well, from the Turin derby. He is a good guy, I hope he will bring more to the team and that we can do very good things together.
His style of play
I am an athletic player and quite technical. My last season was not easy at Torino and I want to bounce back. I did all my training as a central defender but I played in Italy as a right back. I know this three-man defence well and it suits me perfectly. I am at the disposal of the coach as to the position where he wishes to play me.
The upcoming AFCON
Obviously, it is a competition that matters to me, especially since it is being played in Côte d’Ivoire. But the most important thing for me is to be focused on my performance in order to have a great season with the Club. If I perform well, I will have a better chance of being called up.
Previous African players to have played for the Club
There are many very good African players who have played at AS Monaco, like Yaya Touré. He is a player who inspires me a lot. I also think of Nicolas Nkoulou who was trained here. Now that I have signed, I also want to write a great story.
