Ruben Aguilar to RC Lens
Ruben Aguilar arrived in the summer of 2019 from Montpellier Hérault Sporting Club, where he played for two seasons, and quickly established himself in the Principality. After playing 123 games, scoring three goals and providing ten assists for les Rouge & Blanc, the Grenoble native is now set to sign for RC Lens.
From Grenoble to the Principality
Trained at Grenoble Foot 38 (2004 – 2011), before joining AS Saint-Etienne from 2011 to 2013, the 30-year-old full-back made his professional debut for AJ Auxerre in the 2014-2015 season.
After three seasons in Bourgogne (98 games, 1 goal, 5 assists), Ruben joined Montpellier Hérault Sport Club in the summer of 2017. In a Montpellier shirt, he made 68 appearances and played a part in the club’s success, finishing 6th in Ligue 1 Uber Eats in the 2018-2019.
123 appearances for les Rouge & Blanc
An experienced Ligue 1 player, Ruben joined AS Monaco in the summer of 2019. During his four years in the Principality, he helped the club finish on the Ligue 1 podium twice in the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 seasons, and in 2021 was part of les Rouge & Blanc run to the French Cup Final.
His performances in the diagonal shirt earned him a call-up from Didier Deschamps to represent the French national team, where he made his debut against Finland at the Stade de France in November 2020.
AS Monaco would like to thank Ruben for his commitment with les Rouge & Blanc over the last four seasons. The Club wishes him all the best for the rest of his career!
