The Rouge et Blanc will face FC Barcelona for the Trophée Joan Gamper

To conclude the summer preseason, AS Monaco will play in the Trophée Joan Gamper against FC Barcelona, on Monday August 12 at 8 p.m., at the Lluís Companys Olympic stadium in Montjuïc.

One week before the resumption of the Ligue 1 season and a visit from AS Saint-Étienne on the weekend of August 18, the men of Adi Hütter will head to Barcelona to play for the Trophée Joan Gamper against Barça.

An appetizer for a return to the Champions League

This year will be the 59th edition of this historic Trophy – named after the founder of the Catalan club – and it will take place at the Stadium Lluís Companys on Monday August 12 due to work at the Spotify Camp Nou. It’s an opportunity for the Rouge et Blanc to compete against one of the most prestigious opponents in Europe, before AS Monaco return this season to the Champions League.

It was also an opportunity for Adi Hütter to meet Hansi Flick, now coach of FC Barcelona, whom he had faced when both were working in the Bundesliga. The two last met during the 2020-2021 season and the Eintracht Frankfurt of our Austrian coach got the better of Bayern Munich coached by Hansi Flick (2-1).
