Paul Mitchell appointed Sporting Director
AS Monaco is pleased to announce the arrival of Paul Mitchell, 38 years old, as Sporting Director.
Under the direction of Oleg Petrov, Paul Mitchell will be in charge of all AS Monaco’s sporting decisions, from the Academy to the professional team, as well as partner club Cercle Brugge.
Born on 26 August 1981 in Manchester, Paul Mitchell was previously Technical Director for Red Bull’s footballing division, overseeing the brand’s various clubs (Leipzig, New York, Bragentino), after serving as Head of Recruitment and development for RB Leipzig.
Prior to that, the Englishman was Head of Recruitment at Southampton and then Tottenham Hotspur, building a solid reputation in his field in Europe.
Paul Mitchell will be joined by Laurence Stewart who will take up the position of Head of Sporting recruitment and development. After work with Manchester City, Everton and the English FA, Stewart worked with Paul Mitchell at Red Bull as Head of Global Scouting.
I am looking forward to taking up my position, meeting the teams and starting to work together to develop the project and establish a sustainable philosophy for the club.
Paul will bring his skills in talent identification, recruitment and the development of our players, from the Academy to the first team. Paul will be in charge of the sporting aspects of AS Monaco and I am convinced that his arrival will significantly strengthen our project.
