Takumi Minamino is called up for Japan!
It’s becomeing a habit for Takumi Minamino. Having debuted with the Japanese national team at the age of twenty in 2015, under Vahid Halilhodzic, our striker has never left it since. Part of the “Samurai Blue”, the Monegasque winger was once again called up by coach Hajime Moriyasu to compete in the Kirin Challenge Cup, and could thus earn his 43rd and 44th caps!

Decisive more than once out of every two matches
An indisputable starter, whether in midfield or attack, the 27-year-old has a magnificent record of 17 goals and eight assists across his 42 appearances in blue and white. In total, our player has therefore been decisive more than one out of every two matches. Already qualified for the 2022 World Cup, Japan are slowly but surely starting their preparations for the event.
Two matches against the USA and Ecuador
Like Youssouf Fofana and Benoît Badiashile, who have just been called up to the French team and who will play two Nations League matches against Austria and Denmark, Takumi Minamino will face the United States on September 23 and on September 27 Ecuador. These two friendly matches, played as part of the Kirin Challenge Cup, will take place in Düsseldorf, Germany.
Congratulations Taki!
