On-fire Takumi Minamino is your August MVP!
He has been unstoppable since the start of the season! Author of a very good preseason in Rouge et Blanc, with in particular two goals scored in prestigious friendly matches against Real Betis (in a 3-1 win) and against Bayern Munich (2-4), Takumi Minamino is currently in top form! Already with three goals and two assists in just three rounds of Ligue 1, he is even the most decisive player in the Big 5 leagues… tied with Jude Bellingham!
Getting off the mark at Stade Louis-II 🏟
He has had very remarkable performances, starting with a successful first match by Monegasques in Clermont (a 2-4 win). He set up Vanderson in Auvergne, and then the Japanese playmaker waited for the team’s first match at the Stade Louis-II to score himself. It was indeed against Strasbourg that our number 18 would (finally) score his first goal at home, with a sublime strike from 20 meters.

Same combination… same result! 🪖
It was a very special moment by the admission of Taki himself, and he kept things going by scoring himself a double on a pass from Caio Henrique. This was before setting up his captain to make it 3-0. But wasn’t over there, either, as Taki’ will once again show his abilities in Nantes. While AS Monaco got off to a bad start in their duel against Les Canaris, Taki got on the end of a fine pass from the Brazilian, him again, for what was a copy-paste of his goal in the Principality.
Top of the charts in L’Équipe 📈
It was not enough, however, to come back from La Beaujoire with all three points, even if Adi Hütter’s men – the coach who Takumi had played for previously in Salzburg – still occupy first place in the top flight before the clash against Lens this weekend. (Saturday 9 p.m.). The Japanese attacker has also won two MVP awards, and currently sits at the top of the ratings ranking run by the newspaper L’Équipe, with a very fine 7.33 average from his first three matches.
The most prolific duo in the Big 5 leagues 🤝
To date, he forms with Wissam Ben Yedder the most prolific duo in the five major leagues, with nine involvements in an assist or goal, out of the ten goals scored by AS Monaco in the league. And he’s even part of the “Team of the month” of the Big 5 as determined by the data specialist, Sofascore. It is therefore logical that Taki’ wins the first player of the month award this season, for the month of August, with more than 89% of the votes. Daghe Takumi! 🇲🇨
