A masterful AS Monaco win against Feyenoord
They had not yet imposed themselves in preseason, it is now job done! At the end of a match where they were dominant, the players of AS Monaco left the Feyenoord pitch with a victory to their name (1-3). George Ilenikhena, Guillermo Maripán and Mohammed Salisu were the scorers on the evening. ✍️
A dominant start
At the start of this match, Adi Hütter positioned his team in 3-4-1-2 with the returns of Guillermo Maripán and Folarin Balogun. George Ilenikhena was in the starting line-up for the first time. Ideally off to a good start in this match, the Rouge et Blanc created several opportunities through Ismail Jakobs (2′), Takumi Minamino (7æ) and their American striker (16′) but came up short against Bijlow.
Ilenikhena scores for his first goal
The opposing goalkeeper could do nothing about George Ilenikhena’s shot, however, who finished perfectly with his left foot, well served by his attacking partner (25′). It was his first start and therefore first goal for the young 17-year-old player ! The players of the club from the Principality did not let go of their hold on the game and following a corner, the new recruit was close to a double but his half-volley was over (37′). Note the perfect cutback from Balo’ on this action.

Memo and Sali in top form!
After this opportunity, the locals woke up and on one of their rare balls into the area, equalized through their left winger, Luka Ivanusec (39′). The end of the first half was then more complicated but AS Monaco held on thanks in particular to a clearance off the line by Mohammed Salisu (44′). Before that, Lingr’s shot had gone over (41′).
Half-time was good for the Rouge et Blanc who were able to move forward again. And on a corner from Ismail Jakobs, Guillermo Maripán jumped higher than everyone else and placed an unstoppable header into Biljow’s top corner (51′). The Chilean then turned provider for… Mohammed Salisu whose right-footed shot hit the crossbar before going into goal. A 100% central defender goal!

A first victory in preseason
The Austrian coach then took the opportunity to make a rotation and we noted the first appearances in this preseason for Denis Zakaria and Breel Embolo (72′). Aladji Bamba also came into play and had a huge opportunity but his shot hit the post (85′). It was the last chance of this game and AS Monaco finished with a great 3-1 victory on Feyenoord’s pitch. The next match is now on Sunday (11am) with a visit from Genoa at the Performance Center. DAGHE MUNEGU !! 🇲🇨
