Standard de Liège wins at the last against AS Monaco
Five days after winning against Cercle Bruges (2-0), AS Monaco lost their second preseason match against Standard Liège (2-1). The Belgian club won in the last moments of this match played at the Stade du Pairay in Seraing, after having trailed the Red and Whites for most of the match. Willem Geubbels opened the scoring after 19 minutes of play with a beautiful shot with the outside of his right foot, on a superb ball over the top from Jean-Eudes Aholou (1-0).
A double at the very end of the match
The two teams then rotated their squads heavily; Niko Kovac made ten changes at half-time, before Philippe Montanier did the same on the hour mark. Standard finally made their breakthrough thanks to a double from their Uruguayan striker Felipe Avenatti (88 ‘, 90’), who came on during the second half. Tomorrow morning sees a return to training for the Red and Whites, who will go Poland next Monday for a training camp.
