Lamine Camara is Monegasque!
L’AS Monaco is delighted to announce the arrival of midfielder Lamine Camara. The 20-year-old Senegalese international has signed a 5-season deal, and is now tied to the Club until June 30 2029.

Born on January 1 of 2004 in Bignona (Senegal), Lamine Camara completed all his training in his native country. In 2019, he moved to AS Génération Foot, where he signed his first professional contract in 2021.

Winner of the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations

Thanks to his good performances, he would then compete in the 2022 African Nations Championship (CHAN) in January 2023. Voted man of the match in the final against Algeria (5-4 victory on penalties) and named in the team of the tournament, Lamine played a key role in Senegal’s success, helping his country to its first ever trophy in this competition.

Following this, the midfielder once again demonstrated his talent by winning the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations against Gambia (2-0). A starter in every game, he scored two goals and provided two assists, earning him the award for best player of the competition.

“Pépite de la saison” in Ligue 1!

In February 2023, Lamine joined FC Metz, who were in Ligue 2 at the time. He made his debut against Bordeaux, playing a part in Les Grenats‘ 3-0 win, then followed this up with a 3-1 victory over Saint-Etienne, providing an assist in the process. He played a part in FC Metz’s successful end to the season, as they finished second in the league and moved up to Ligue 1.

During the 2023/2024 season, Lamine Camara distinguished himself as an essential part of the FC Metz team, playing 33 games (5 assists, 2 goals) as a “box-to-box” player with good technical qualities. His successful season earned him the title of “Pépite de la saison”,- which rewards young talent- a distinction awarded by Ligue 1 and based on public voting.

New number 15

His season was also marked by his first appearance at the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast in January 2024. Starting 3 times in 4 games, he made his mark in the first match against Gambia, scoring twice to help the Lions of Teranga to a 3-0 win.

From now on, Lamine Camara will be putting his skills to good use in AS Monaco’s diagonale, wearing the number 15 shirt, where he will be reunited with two of his international team-mates, Krépin Diatta and Ismail Jakobs.

AS Monaco wishes Lamine Camara all the best in Rouge et Blanc! 🇲🇨
