Niko Kovac's reaction
Only three days after arriving on the Rock, Niko Kovac coached his first match on the bench of AS Monaco. Here are his impressions after the narrow defeat of the Principality’s players against Standard de Liège (2-1).
The coach’s reaction :
What do you take away from this first friendly match in a personal capacity?
It was important to have a good overview of all the players and the game we just played fits in with that. We’ve seen a lot today, some interesting things, especially in the first half.
Is there a bit of regret from losing the match in the last minute?
I hate losing a game, but sometimes you can learn from a loss. I think it is today. This kind of loss in a friendly match can help the players realize the importance of good preparation in order to improve.
Which aspects of the team’s play should be worked on as a priority?
We have only had two sessions in two days, we can’t expect much from this match… But we have time available to prepare well and progress. We made mistakes today but that is part of the game, you have to learn from them and work to correct them.
