Goalscorer Axel Disasi is the MVP of the trip to Nantes!
He sent a real rocket under Alban Lafont’s crossbar! After receiving a corner very well taken by Caio Henrique, Axel Disasi controlled the ball with his chest to eliminate his marker, Jean-Charles Castelletto, before unleashing a heavy shot into the top left corner. It was a real attacking finish for him, a player who line up in this position during his youth and who allowed AS Monaco to open the scoring on their first chance.

His header lead to the second goal
The vice-captain thus scored his sixth goal of the season and his eighth of his career in Ligue 1, including seven with the Rouge et Blanc, each time from a set pieces (6 following a corner and 2 from an indirect free kick), notes our statistics partner Opta.
A great attacking threat at each set play, it was moreover on one of his deflected headers that the corner kick which led to the second Monegasque goal from Eliot Matazo.
A defensive rock
But this Sunday, Axel Disasi was not only present in the Nantes area, he did the same in his own box. With seven balls recoveries, six defensive clearances (the most in the match), three interceptions and five duels won, the native of Gonesse did everything to help his side to a precious result, not hesitating to sacrifice his body to thwart the opponents’ attempts.
Unfortunately it was insufficient since Philippe Clement’s side would concede two goals in the second half and leave with a frustrating two-all draw.
A third MVP of the season
However, the Monegasque fans did not hold it against him since he was selected with more than 54% of the votes on the AS Monaco App, thus winning his third MVP title this season after the first legs against PSV and Bayer Leverkusen.
But they are not the only ones to have praised his performance; this is also the case with the press. With a rating of 7 in L’Équipe, he was indeed in the Team of the Round in Ligue 1 and in the best French oplayers of the weekend alongside, in particular, the former Monegasque Anthony Martial. Well done Axel!
