Goalscorer Aleksandr Golovin is named MVP against Brest!
He is currently unstoppable! Already having been involved in four goals in his last four Ligue 1 outings (2 goals, 2 assists), Aleksandr Golovin did it again against Brest on Sunday at the Stade Louis-II. On the first of the year in the Principality, the Monegasque number 17 gave all three points to AS Monaco, at the end of a physical match (37 fouls) against the Bretons in a 1-0 win.
Brilliance, part III
And once again, the Tsar let his shooting do the talking from outside the penalty area. Found by Mohamed Camara in midfield at the start of the second half, Golo’ then turned his defender with a superb bit of skill, before sending a missile from the right into the opposite corner (1-0, 54′). This was necessary to beat what was a “great Marco Bizot”, according to Philippe Clement, who would already have seen a curling effort of the Monegasque winger (15′) come close to the net.
An important defensive contribution
Author of three successful dribbles and four “key passes” before a shot, according to data from our partner Opta, he also put in a big defensive performance. With two successful tackles, an interception and six recoveries, Aleksandr Golovin thus played a big role in the team’s successful press against Les Brestois. Even if the major key to his game remains this brilliant effort from range, despite an expected goals index of only… 0.12 (on his two shots combined)!
The best… from distance!
By scoring the only goal of the match, the latter above all allowed AS Monaco to extend their series of matches with at least one goal to 27! It’s the current best total in the European Big 5 leagues. He also scored his third goal from outside the box this season in the top flight (out of four), i.e. a third of his total goals in the league in Rouge et Blanc (6/18).

In top form
Already involved in eight goals in the current season (4 goals, 4 assists), the attacking midfielder is also having his best season in terms of statistics, second only to 2020-2021 (when he was involved in 14 goals). It’s a great reason to see him named MVP of the match on the AS Monaco App, a choice that 88% of the fans made. Bravo Golo!
