With a goal and an assist, "Izo" Jakobs is the MVP in Reims
He had to wait for the call, and he answered perfectly! Starting in Reims in the long-term absence of Caio Henrique – to whom a tribute was paid during the warm-up – Ismail Jakobs left his mark on the big match in Ligue 1 on Matchday 8 . Full of energy on the left wing, despite a first half dominated by the Champenois, Izo wasted no time in proving decisive in the match.
A goal made in Senegal!
At the end of a cross from Krépin Diatta, his counterpart on the right, after a bit of skill along the sideline, the Monegasque number 14 did not hesitate to finish from close range with a half-volley (0-1, 42nd)! It was thus a 100% Senegalese goal and a first goal for the Rouge et Blanc wingback in the colors of AS Monaco, on his 85th appearance.

A brilliant pass for Captain’ Wiss
But Ismail is not going to stop there, since after returning from the locker room, it is he who sent in a fine cross for a header by Wissam Ben Yedder for the Monégasques‘ third goal (0-3, 49’), the captain’s 150th in Ligue 1. Very involved offensively (3 passes before a shot, 3 crosses in the game), coupled with significant work in defence, he also made a great block to prevent Keito Nakamura from scoring (64′).
Une galette d'Izo pour le 1⃣5⃣0⃣e but en @Ligue1UberEats de @WissBenYedder 🔝

Plenty of energy on the wing
Izo thus completed the match with a goal, an assist, but also five ball recoveries, four successful tackles, three interceptions… and no less than 13 duels won, the best mark on the Monegasque side! Incidentally, he was also the one who had the most touches among Adi Hütter’s players (80), and who delivered the most passes in the final third (14).
A first MVP
It is therefore logical to see him win the title of MVP of the match with 43% of the votes of the team’s fans on the AS Monaco App. He thus finished ahead of the two other scorers of the day at the Stade Auguste-Delaune, Wissam Ben Yedder (21%) and Folarin Balogun (14%). It’s a first for him! Bravo Izo ! 👏
