Christian Mawissa is Monégasque!

AS Monaco is pleased to announce the signing of Christian Mawissa from Toulouse FC. The 19-year-old central defender has signed a five-year contract with the Club until 30 June 2029.

A pure product of Occitania, Christian Mawissa,born in 2005 in Saint-Jean-de-Verges (Ariège), he learned all his trade in his native region. He started at FC Pays d’Olmes then joined FC Mirepoix, FC Coussatois and FC Coussa-Hers before signing with Toulouse FC in 2017 to complete his training there.

A European U-17 Champion with France

Within his training club, Christian Mawissa has displayed a high level of performance, which earned him regular time for France in the country’s youth teams (U17, U18 and U19).

With Les Bleus, he won the European Under-17 Championship on June 1, 2022, against the Netherlands (2-1) where he played the entire match. A few days later, on June 6, he won the French U17 championship, a first for Téfécé, against AC Ajaccio (4-0).

New number 13 for Monaco

Shortly thereafter, in November 2022, he signed his first professional contract with Toulouse and played, a month later, on December 29, his first match in the top flight against Olympique de Marseille, at the Vélodrome.

The 1.80m defender is coming off a successful 2023-2024 season with Les Violets with whom he gradually established himself within their defense, thus contributing to wins against Lille OSC (3-1) and Paris Saint-Germain (3-1) and taking part in the club’s great European campaign.

At AS Monacohe will wear number 13, Christian Mawissa and will reunite with Eliesse Ben Seghir, Ritchy Valme, Lucas Michal and Mayssam Benama, born in 2005 like him and with whom he’s rubbed shoulders in the French youth teams.
