He was once again an exemplary captain in an important match for the podium. Like he had against Nice two weeks earlier, Denis Zakaria was a key element in midfield in a big win over Marseille (3-0), allowing AS Monaco to move up to second place at the end of this 29th matchday in Ligue 1.

Notably the author of ten ball recoveries – a record in the match for an outfield player -, with 70% of his duels won, 100% of successful tackles and two interceptions, the Monaco number 6 was imperious in his defensive duties, while at the same time making his contribution going forward.

First he provided the assist for Takumi Minamino on the first goal after half an hour of play before the Swiss international (59 caps) then showed his composure to completely kill off the match. A double honor for Zak: MVP and in the l’Équipe Team of the Round 👏
Zak’, who scored for the fifth time this season in Ligue 1, found the net and provided an assist in the same league match for the second time after doing the same on September 14, 2024 against Auxerre. It was thus a major performance which logically earned him the title of Monaco’s MVP of this match with 75% of the votes ahead of Breel Embolo, scorer of the second goal, and Philipp Köhn, who was sensational in goal, making for a 100% Swiss podium.
Voted best player of the match for the fifth time this season, the captain also achieved a “double” by also featuring in the Team of the Round in l’Équipe, along with his Nati and AS Monaco teammate. Bravo Denis! 👏
