Benoît Badiashile: "Glad to get this victory with a clean sheet"
Like his partners in defence, he played a very sound match defensively. At the end of a massive win for Niko Kovac and his Rouge et Blanc in Paris (2-0), Benoît Badiashile spoke about his satisfaction with the result to the media. Happy to have won the match and to have kept a clean sheet, the AS Monaco centre back gave a post-match press conference.
Good evening Benoît. How did you work defensively this week to prepare for this meeting against Paris?
The coach showed us videos about the attacking play of Paris Saint-Germain. We didn’t necessarily do specific work, but we tried to defend as we usually do. All told, we are very happy with this result.
Tell us about Niko Kovac’s half-time speech when you were leading 1-0.
He told us to continue as we had in the first half, to stay focused and diligent. We shouldn’t be afraid when we have had the ball. The second half helped us with the goal scored right after the break. We didn’t concede a goal, it was very important for us to finish the game with this clean sheet.
You have beaten PSG twice this season, do you think about the title now?
Think about the title? No, there are still a lot of matches left. The teams in front of us have a lot of experience. We’re making our way, and we’ll see where we are come the end of the season.
Do you think the three teams on the podium are better than you?
Yes, we have a very young team. We dropped points quite stupidly in the first part of the season. We are looking at what is happening below us in the table. If we are close to the top three at the end of the championship, then we can talk about it. But I repeat, there is still a long way to go.
Talk to us about the big match by Axel Disasi.
He adapted very well to playing on the right side of defense. He is not used to playing in this system, but he had a very good match. I’m happy for him because he’s working hard in training. He proved it today on the pitch by showing a high level of performance.
