Benoît Badiashile: "We have to build on this against Troyes"
He scored a consolation goal against RC Lens — his fifth since making his professional debut at AS Monaco, with whom he has already made 122 appearances following the draw against PSG at the Parc des Princes (1-1). Back in good form after an injury at the start of the season, Benoît Badiashile spoke at a press conference about facing Troyes this Wednesday in Ligue 1.
The match against Paris
When we come off a performance like ours against PSG, we have to confirm it against a team that is supposedly inferior on paper to ours. But to do that it will be necessary to put all the necessary ingredients in to get a victory against Troyes. It’s really good to be able to play such a match against very high level players like those of Paris Saint-Germain. Now the match is over, and we have to look to the next one.
Playing with three at the back
We had already worked on this in pre-season against Inter Milan (2-2 draw), so it wasn’t really something new, especially since we worked on it all week in training. We knew that in coming out to face Lionel Messi and Neymar, we could relieve the pressure on the midfield. Then the coach makes his choices, and we adapt to the game plan that suits the opponent in front of us. But it’s true that with a three-man defense, we have more confidence, because we can go out knowing that someone will be there to cover us. We like this system and it showed against Paris.
Managing a yellow card against PSG
Honestly I was very scared (smile). Looking at the images afterwards, I went a little overboard. But after the play I continued to play normally, I did not think about this booking. Without talking about this foul, I actually think that I have reached a new level in terms of aggressiveness. Now I will have to be more consistent in my performances.
Competition in defense
We are all here to help each other. Competition is healthy and we all try to pull each other up. That’s what we try to do every day in training. The Club has objectives to succeed in all competitions which means that we will need everyone.
The contributions of Mohamed Camara
He brings us a sense of serenity, because Mo’ is someone very calm with and without the ball. He’s really impressive, it feels like it’s been there for years already. He showed against Paris that he is an excellent player with great quality and plenty of energy, and we hope he can continue like that in the coming months. Honestly, the midfield pairing he formed with Youssouf at the Parc helped us a lot, helped take the stress off of our defense.

The milestone of 100 matches in Ligue 1
It’s something big. I am very happy to participate at this level in the history of AS Monaco. Playing 100 matches in Ligue 1 with your first club is something very special, and I hope to play even more and help get the results we want to achieve collectively.
