Balogun is nominated for the 2024 American Player of the Year award
He has started his second season with AS Monaco. Back in competition in the Champions League against SL Benfica and then against Olympique de Marseille in Ligue 1, Folarin Balogun is gradually getting his feet back under the table. With 9 goals and 6 assists this year, all competitions combined (club + country), the US international is thus among the nominees for the title of best American player of 2024.
Second nomination in a row after 2023
The Monaco number 9 is one of the five American internationals nominated, alongside defenders Tim Ream, Antonee Robinson and forwards Ricardo Pepi and Christian Pulisic. The latter is the holder of the trophy, while this is the second nomination in a row for “Balo”, already honored last year by the American Soccer Federation.
Goalscorer and winner in the Nations League
Notably the scorer of two goals with the United States at the Copa America, Folarin Balogun was also the author of two assists with his country, winning the Concacaf Nations League last spring.
