Axel Disasi earns a last-minute call-up for France!
It’s a nice bit of consolation for Axel Disasi. The day after a narrow defeat against Olympique de Marseille (2-3), our vice-captain started the day with a (very) good surprise. The AS Monaco central defender has indeed been called up by the coach of the French team for the 2022 World Cup, replacing Presnel Kimpembe, who has withdrawn from the competition.
Still not fully recovered from injury, Presnel Kimpembe won't participate at the World Cup. 𝗔𝘅𝗲𝗹 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘀𝗶 has been called up to replace him!#FiersdetreBleus pic.twitter.com/1lLArvXD6h

A 72nd Monégasque to be called up for Les Bleus
This is his first time with Les Bleus, since the vice-captain of the Rouge et Blanc hasn’t been called up until now. A key player for Philippe Clement, the Monegasque number 6 has not missed a minute of play since the start of the Ligue 1 season. With a very high level of performance since this summer, a player who has had two goals and four assists in all competitions combined since August, has been rewarded.
He thus joins Youssouf Fofana, already called up among the 25 players for the World Cup, and moreover becomes the 72nd player from the Principality club to be called up to the French team. Well done Axel and good luck! 🇫🇷
