A saviour with his goal, Axel Disasi is the MVP of the win in Leverkusen
Axel ‘Clutch’ Disasi! At the end of an wild match which saw the two teams go blow for blow, it was ultimately AS Monaco who emerged victorious in the round of 32 first leg of the Europa Leaguea against Bayer Leverkusen (2-3). And if a player made his mark on the match, it was certainly the captain for the evening, Axel Disasi, who, thanks to a powerful goal into the corner, gave victory to the Principality side in added time.
A rocket from nearly 30 meters
Down but never out! Despite the two goals conceded, the Monegasques, led by a World Cup runner up in top form at the back (2 successful tackles, 6 ball recoveries, 5 interceptions, 5 aerial duels won), never stopped believing, and continued to fight until the end. His determination would be rewarded in the match’s final seconds.
After a corner won by Wissam Ben Yedder, the ball was cleared by the Germans’ defense. Eliesse Ben Seghir recovered it and played the ball to Axel Disasi, alone in the center more than 25 meters from the goal. Our number 6 then fired a powerful strike with his right foot which beat Lukas Hradecky and found the bottom corner (92′, 2-3)! He had scored the fifth goal of his career in European play.

Sharing his joy with the supporters!
His immense joy came together with that of the fans as he celebrated with the 500 Rouge et Blanc supporters who had made the trip to Germany. It was also, above all, a goal that freed his team and allows AS Monaco to take a step towards qualification ahead of the return leg next week, with Bayer Leverkusen coming to the Stade Louis-II.
