Aurélien Tchouameni is your IQONIQ Match MVP against Marseille
In recent weeks, he has been the player who is gaining strength in the Monegasque midfield. Aurélien “Air” Tchouaméni, to use his new nickname, took advantage of the match against Olympique de Marseille to head home his first goal in Red and White on a corner from Aleksandr Golovin. With it, the Monegasque midfielder allowed AS Monaco to take the advantage on the scoreboard in the last quarter of an hour of play (2-1, 75th). This goal came after an equalizer at the start of the second half from Guillermo Maripán (49′), also on a pass by the Russian.
A first MVP award
This big win against OM (3-1) was, in any event, the opportunity for the Monegasque number 8 to show the way to victory for his teammates, before Stevan Jovetić sealed the outcome of the game in added time with a magnificent free kick (90th). With 46% of the votes, Aurélien Tchouameni was elected MVP for the first time this season by the Rouge et Blanc fans on the AS Monaco App.
A goal and a top performance was exactly what Niko Kovac had hoped for from his two central midfielders at a pre-match press conference. The pair are also, by the way the players who made the most recoveries, exactly 13. Aurélien Tchouameni also ranked second among Monegasque players in touches (74) with a 72% passing rate.

Neck-and-neck with Aleksandr Golovin
Another performance did not go unnoticed. It was that of Aleksandr Golovin, who came on at half-time, and came very close to winning the match MVP. With two assists, the Russian international (33 caps, 5 goals) picked out Guillermo Maripán and Aurélien Tchouameni, who both finished with a header from a corner. The Monegasque number 17 became the first player to deliver two assists in a Ligue 1 match with AS Monaco after coming on as a substitute, since Opta began analyzing the competition (2006/07). Proof once again that the Monegasque bench is the league’s most decisive, to Niko Kovac‘s great satisfaction.
Another one ✅
Premier but, FINALLY 😅
