Alexander Nübel and Malang Sarr reach the end of their contracts
They’ve spent two and one years in Rouge et Blanc. Alexander Nübel and Malang Sarr, whose loans expire at the end of the current season, will indeed leave AS Monaco. As confirmed by the Club’s Sporting Director, Paul Mitchell, on Thursday, the German goalkeeper will thus return to Bayern Munich, while the French central defender is already back at Chelsea receiving treatment for a muscle injury.
A record number of saves in Ligue 1
He’s played 97 wearing La Diagonale since his arrival in the summer of 2021 – including 20 European matches -, the goalkeeper born in Paderborn is the first Monegasque not to have missed a single minute in Ligue 1 over two seasons since Jean-Luc Ettori (from 1989 to 1991). In addition, Opta have noted that he is the goalkeeper who had the most saves in the top flight this season (140).
Back to London with a former Monégasque
Only Guillermo Ochoa (153 in 2011-2012, 147 in 2013-2014) and Brice Samba (142 in 2018-2019) have done better since the statistics specialist has been analysing the competition (2006-2007). Having started 17 times with the Rouge et Blanc, before being slowed down by an injury, Malang Sarr will go back to the Premier League and join Benoît Badiashile with Chelsea.
