Adi Hütter: “Work hard this week to bounce back”

Adi Hütter: “Work hard this week to bounce back”
Disappointed by the outcome of the match against Lille (2-0), the Austrian manager spoke himself at a press conference, with the desire to bounce back next weekend.

They failed to find the key against the Lille defense. Trailing by two goals just before the break, the Rouge et Blanc tried everything to get back on track but success was not on their side this Sunday, and they eventually lost, 2-0. It’s a loss that manager Adi Hütter tried to explain at a press conference, while evoking his desire to react to Brest next weekend.

I'm disappointed with the last 15 minutes before the break. I think we controlled the match in the first half by being more dangerous than Lille, even if it wasn't spectacular. We did everything to equalize in the second half and I would like to congratulate LOSC.

Good evening coach. How do you see this match?

I’m disappointed with the last 15 minutes before the break. I think we controlled the match in the first half by being more dangerous than Lille, even if it wasn’t spectacular. We did everything to equalize in the second half and I would like to congratulate LOSC.

If I had to pick out something negative, it would be the last 15 minutes of the first period. It’s not just the defense because we win and lose together, Edon Zhegrova gave us problems at that time. I think we lacked concentration. We are not happy about this and we are very disappointed with this result.

What did you seek to implement with this change in system?

We talked this week in training about using two systems. We chose this one. I don’t think it’s the fault of that but rather of those minutes when we conceded two goals. We then did everything to come back. I decided to bring on Maghnes and Eliesse, and their goalkeeper also made some spectacular saves. It wasn’t our best game of the season today.

Tell us about the performance of Denis, who was sometimes in midfield or in defense.

In Frankfurt, I was already used to putting a player in this position,  to be able to vary between the two. This makes it more difficult for the opponent to read this tactic. Denis knows he can play in both positions, in midfield and in defense. He is an experienced player.

What do you want to work on this week in training?

It’s always important to work on our principles. It hasn’t been easy defensively since the start of the season because we had to make a lot of changes before the matches. As a coach, we like to have all our players at our disposal, it’s not easy. But once again, congratulations to Lille who played a very good match. We will work a lot this week to bounce back.
