Adi Hütter: "Play the same way in Nantes as against Strasbourg"
He has the opportunity to become just the second AS Monaco coach to win his first three Ligue 1 games. After beating Clermont (2-4) and Strasbourg (3-0), Adi Hütter thus has the opportunity to match Arsène Wenger in the event of a win Friday in Nantes (9 p.m.), as part of the third matchday. It is in any case with this perspective that the Austrian manager spoke at a pre-match press conference.🎙
His start at AS Monaco
We have started the season well and I am happy with the last match against Strasbourg. It’s always good to score three goals and not concede any. We dominated the entire game and pressed well. It was very important for us since we are getting closer to the style we want to put in place.
Our principles of play have been respected and my players show confidence on the pitch. Of course we can still do better and we must take into account the opponent as well. Now we are going to play in Nantes and it will undoubtedly be very tough.
Wissam Ben Yedder’s successful start to the season
Wissam has scored three goals in two games, so he is very important for us. He’s a great finisher and he’s very good in the box. But against Strasbourg, he also scored on a quick transition. It is essential for a coach to have players of this quality in this position.

On the next opponent, Nantes
Their start to the season is a little different from ours as they haven’t taken any points, while we have six, even if the table after two matches doesn’t mean much. But we expect to struggle as Nantes are a difficult team to play with their home crowd behind them.
It will be necessary to be careful and to be concentrated because they will play in a low block and on the counter. We will therefore have to put in a good performance in our pressing, and play the same way in Nantes as against Strasbourg. As we want to play at the top of the table, we need points and to have the ambition to win.
The performances of Takumi Minamino
Taki has already had a good preseason, he has worked a lot and scored against Betis and Bayern .His physical condition is getting better every day and he has been decisive at the start of the season with goals and assists. He has regained his confidence and helps us a lot with his style of play and his movement. I’m happy for him and for the fans.
It’s true that I knew for six months during his stay in Salzburg, when he was 19 years old. He was a shy person who was adapting to European culture. He gained experience at Liverpool and rubbed shoulders with great players. I imagine he was therefore happy to see me (laughs). It’s easier for him to adapt because he knows my state of mind and my style of play. Against Strasbourg, I really liked his first goal because he had a good reaction when he recovered the ball after losing it. This is a principle that we try to put in place in the squad.

Points for improvement
The pressing can be even better, as can the bench. We can also improve in our game with the ball. Against Strasbourg, we played at a high level but it is my role to try to do even better. At the end of this match, the spectators and the players were happy. We were hungry to win and deserved this victory. But we have only played two games and we still have to develop this style of play, while being focused in every game.
