Adi Hütter: "It's a logical draw"
Obviously disappointed to have come very close to a victory against RC Lens at the Stade Louis-II (1-1), the Austrian manager tried to analyse the match in the post-match press conference.

A logical but frustrating draw. At the end of an incredible end, in the last 20 minutes, animated by interventions from the VAR, the players of AS Monaco drew against Les Sang et Or thaks to a penalty (1-1). A fair result overall, but one which still left room for a certain frustration for coach Adi Hütter, who spoke to the media. 🎙️

Hello coach. What did you think of the two decisions taken by the referee with the help of VAR?

The rules of handball are always a bit complex. Sometimes we are lucky, other times not. For everyone, some situations can be difficult to say whether there is handball or not. For the referees, it is also difficult and they decide together with those who are present in the VAR room. We have to accept these decisions.

In the end, it is a logical draw, our performance was not accomplished enough, as it was in our last three matches. We would have been very lucky if we had obtained the three points but Lens showed that they are a great team. I want to congratulate all the players for playing a match at 3pm on the Côte d’Azur.

Have the defensive changes upset your stability?

Yes, that seems to have been the case because we were not as calm as against Saint-Etienne or Lyon. We decided to make this choice because we want to build a squad and we want to involve the whole team and not 13 or 14 players. Everyone has to be ready because after the international break, there will be six games in a row. These will be difficult matches so everyone will have to be present because it is impossible to play so many games with the same starting eleven.

Can you talk about Christian Mawissa’s performance?

We only remember his mistake while he won many duels as well. As a coach, it is impossible to only remember that and I cannot blame him for this reason. Obviously, he will have to learn in order to continue his progression but I am not worried, he will be a very great defender.
